In the history of Freshfite no 2 fighters have been more prominent or popular than Tia and Sammie. Seven years ago Tia became THE original Freshfiter, and then a year later Sammie joined and became the “face” of Freshfite. Tia has taken time off for various reasons over the years, but she is back, in post-fitness contest shape, and is her lightest weight at 126, within 12 lbs of Sammie, which evens things a bit for Sammie. Tia’s style is more street fighter, and she punishes Sammie with wicked painful palm strikes to the face, head, neck and body, as well as painful grappling holds and hairpulling. Tia gets the first submission in about 4 minutes, and the way she attacked Sammie in the next, 13 minute fall, made us wonder if it would be similar to the 10-1 beating Tia gave Sammie in FFV235, their last full fight. But, as in FFV344, their recent sparring fight that turned rough and intense, Sammie does her best to fend off Tia and use her grappling skills and persistence to hang in. One of Sammie’s goals before retiring is to beat Tia. The fight comes down to the last fall, and one fighter finally emerges as the winner after the final 10 minutes of wild intense action. These 2 icons have their most incredible fight, and it’s a Freshfite classic that will be hard to top.
